The GPLT Vision

To be a recognized, accredited land protection organization of integrity in Georgia.

The GPLT Mission

To provide green and open spaces in northern Georgia that are essential for healthy communities and a high quality of life.

What is a Land Trust

A land trust is generally a private, nonprofit corporation organized to protect land for its natural, recreational, scenic, historical or productive values, according to the Land Trust Alliance, a national organization dedicated to advancing the conservation of land resources.

The Georgia Piedmont Land Trust (GPLT) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that acquires and stewards fee simple and conservation easement land donations to achieve one or more conservation purposes. The conservation purposes we protect include:

- Natural Habitat
- Water Quality (Watersheds, Wetlands & Mitigation Banks)
- Working Lands (Farm & Forestry)
- Woodlands Historic Lands (Battlefields)
- Open Space and Scenic Values
- Community Greenspaces

As a qualified and accredited land trust GPLT must:

- Comply with IRS criteria for land preservation.
- Operate according to accepted practices and standards as established by the Land Trust Alliance for conservation and stewardship.
